Nilai 2 March 2023 – In conjunction with USIM’s 2023 strategic thrust, the USIM’S Legal Department and Kelab Wardah determine to engage with the local community in Nilai, focusing on single mothers in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Pusat Kesihatan Universiti and Masjid Al-Azim, Taman Semarak, Nilai.

Accordingly, Legal Department and Kelab Wardah have chosen the community within Masjid Al-Azim, Taman Semarak, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, which houses B40 single-mother families of Malay, Indian and several international ethnicities for the university’s social responsibility program (USR).

Several exciting activities have been planned to jazz up the USR program, such as:-

a. ‘Ketahui Hak Anda Semasa Perkahwinan Dan Selepas Perceraian’ talk by the learned Dr Dina binti Imam Supaat, lecturer from the Faculty of Syariah and Law (FSU). It is focused on imparting knowledge in an informal setting to the participants regarding their awarenes to women’s rights during marriage and after a divorce.

b. The second talk, ‘Jom Baiki Solat,’ was delivered by the learned Dr Marina Munira binti Abdul Mutalib, lecturer from the Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP). This talk focused on the importance of prayer, the correct ways to perform ablution and the correct reading/movement during a prayer casually with the participants.

c. Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) has gratiously provided free eye examination services for the local community. The University Health Center (PKU) provides free basic medical check-up services, such as taking blood pressure tests, glucose tests, and body-mass index assesement. These activities were carried out at Masjid Al-Azim.

d. Activities for children were also organized to engage them to come to Masjid Al-Azim, such as colouring activities, puzzle games and watching children’s movies.

The highlight of the USR program was lucky draw for the attendees. A total of 18 prizes have been prepared for lucky recipients. Among them are electrical goods, vouchers and hampers.

We hope this program have reached the local community in respect of the awareness and knowledge in solat, health, and women’s rights.
